Personally I'd prefer
'Were you trying to contact/call me?'
because it's easier to say you didn't ring that number and it's a wrong number texting you.
To get a text saying 'I missed your call' kind of nails you for the fact that you definitely rang the number.
Just my own standpoint on that one!

Only happened me once.
My punting phone is only on when I am organizing an appointment and then again before the appointment to confirm and get directions.
After I leave I always then delete all numbers phoned and ant texts.
Phone then switched off and stored away until I need it again.
Think this is a foolproof method.

The best thing to do is send a text asking the lady to call you when free. No call, no enchilada I guess. For the reasons mentioned, it isnt really appropriate to just return missed calls.
