I don't know why both the Republican and Democrat parties are bickering about, but one thing for sure is, China won't be happy about any of it, because they hold a lot of Green Back in cash/bonds, and if it devalues, we can see China facing problems as well. Why I say this is because Obama put pressure to the Chinese Gov. to devalue it's currency, so that the dollar will be able to survive a bit on the markets.
But as per all conspiracy theories, no one in Congress will allow the Green Back to devalue. Yes, it will take a hammerring in the markets but for sure it will not be devalued. There is too much at stake for it to happen, a deal will be struck at the final hour and Bob's Your Uncle, isn't that always the case?

The whole thing is a bit like here really, the debt ceiling will have to be raised in US but the republicans hold the power and they
want to dominate the policy. Obama wants a mix of cuts and Tax hikes but the republicans want cuts only because the proposed tax hikes would hit the big buisness and corporate sector hard and these are mainly republican owned. As usual the
ordinary people are left looking on with no control over their futures while there is a political and corporate power struggle,
the winner here will really define US for next decade and it looks like Obama is losing his grip, it will not be a good day for the
ordinary people if the republicans get their way as they have a very narrow view of the future. The sooner the US comes
to terms with the fact that economic power has noiw shifted and is in the hands of China the better

It's all ready a done deal; by offering to cut trillions in dollars on entiltement programs, social securit, medicare, and meicaid as wya of reducing the debt, Obama showed he was capable of compromise while the Republics don't want the Bush tax cuts t expire; many Republicans signed a pledge not rise taxing, so a lot of them won't vote on a plan that includes rising taxes on the rich, thus, showing that the Republicans are incapable of compromise, and incapable of thinking about the needs of America, but just their own needs

The problem started because some of the Tea Party members don't want to raise the debt celling which has been raised 29 time, but since there's a black President it shouldn't be raised.

Now, I don't want Obama to do a second term because I'm really sick and tired of seeing jjust how infantle and primitive a lot of white Americans are

The only person losing their grip is the Speaker of the House,, who holds the power in the House of Representives (Republican Controlled); The Speaker of House couldn't get people from the House to vote on a plan he came up with. Talk about losing grip?

Interesting perspective Anita, and not one I have heard before. One question, asked in friendship and not adversary. Who would you like to see, I don't think the Republicans have a credible candidate.

I think America needs a new economic policy; capitalism isn't working for millions of Americans, and it's time for something new. More concerned is being placed on the debt crisis instead of the unemployment crisis which, if people we employed, would cancel out the debt crisis. America has too many problems that it never addressed and now things are coming to a hea,

I agree entirely with you, what we are witnessing, unbeknownst to the masses is the end of Conservative Capitalism as states take on private debt and nationalisation comes back on the agenda. Unfortunately for you people in the US, socialism is equated with Communism and threat to the state. I don't see any radical candidates coming forward, hope I am wrong.

It's Totalitarianism where central power is in the hands of corporations. Just about every country in the West is saddled down with debt at time when governments should be offering public works to get the massess back to work, but their broke, and cannot have bond offers that generated funds for public works, instead people are wanting for corporations to put people to work, which they are, but in places like China. GE doesn't pay corporate taxes, amd it plans ,or has already closed a plant in the US to open in China.
