I have a 96 Corolla. Since its last nct 2 years ago, I changed the oil and put two second hand tyres on it.
Just passed its nct again.

That's about € 100 for two years motoring.

Yup, much as I'm a fan of German cars, it's hard to beat a Toyota for reliability and value. A bit boring but they'll never let you down. And if you do want it bit of flair, then go for this baby below (Toyota Celica):

German to me is the best.
Prices in the north seem much more reasonable.
Picked up a 4yr old 7 series with 57k for £17k. Brilliant value.

I am thinking of getting a new car but the one i want is over €40k, My question is, Is it right in these times to be spending that much on a car ??
