Errmm...I've heard about concierge apartments. Never been to one.

I would be uneasy but I guess it depends on the concierge really. Is the concierge in the know and on the take - in which case it would be to his advantage to keep things discreet. Or is the concierge likely to get suspicious (i.e not in the know) and blow the whistle.

I've seen one established touring lady who told me that on a previous tour she had used an apartment with a concierge, and said the concierge was very helpful! (I have no idea whether she slipped something under the counter to the concierge to keep him sweet? I'd be too polite to pry into how a lady runs her business.)

At the end of the day - it's going to depend on how comfortable I am with the lady I'm going to see. Would have a higher trust level in an escort who is established and has plenty of good reivews. I'm talking about trusting the lady's ability to keep things discreet (not talking about personal integrity - which clearly any lady can have regardless of how long she's been in the business.)

Anyway, to cut the waffle - I would chance going to one of these apartments if I felt the lady knew her business very well. i would probably cancel if I felt the lady was new to this.

On the other hand I would be very unhappy visiting a hotel regardless of whom I'm going to see.

I don't know anything about concierge apartments, but if there is going to be a lad at the front door, which means he is being paid by some company to look after security, won't it also mean CCTV comes into play? Just a thought people...just a thought. Not trying to put anyone from going, but the risk is always there.

Lad or no lad there is likely to be CCTV in a decent apartment block. In fact I would guess that if they are employing a concierge for security the CCTV may not be as well maned seeing as they actually have someone on site.

Concierge, CCTV, none of that matters when you're a friggin' ninja

    _____________

I'd be seriously put off by a concierge. I'd continue as normal passed him/her then jump out the nearest window that's not in his/her view...

Amber, but isn't CCTV also installed just to record fixed location,ie entrance to the building? So no need to man it.

Sometimes. Some cameras are fixed location but you'll find a lot of newer CCTV cameras are roaming. They monitor a person as they come into the building and follow them using a sensor I believe. I know for a fact that 2 short term let apartment blocks in Dublin with no Concierge have manned CCTV. They are classed as workable (and are as security are turning a blind eye) but there is someone watching the cameras at all times.

Yes,agree with you there when you say someone is watching the cameras all the time.

True, there's CCTV everywhere - just a fact of life now. Somehow not as off-putting I think, just a psychological thing. With the CCTV you tend to think there's nobody watching or it's not being recorded, or tapes are overwritten everyday unless there's a major issue.

There is an Apt block with concierge in IFSC... well dunno if he was concierge, more a security guard and it freaked me right out!!!

I wouldn't go back to that apt block again, couldn't care what lady it was... all I know is I felt like Indiana Jones and the temple of doom finding my way to her!!
