Default Concierge - a problem or is it just me being paranoid?

    Hi All,

Quick question for yez: I wanted to visit a certain lady I know - she's recently moved to a new apartment that has a concierge. I'm a little uncomfortable about such places (owing to an awkward experience I had with a certain D4 hotel in my early days at this lark).

Anyway my question is do ye find an apartment block with a concierge off-putting or is it just me being paranoid. Like if ye were going to a booking would you turn away if you found you had to run the gauntlet past one of these guys? As I say, maybe I'm the only one this paranoid or self conscious.

Perhaps more relevant is a question for the ladies: have you ever worked in a place with a concierge and if so was it ever a problem?

The less hassle the better. I prefer no checks.

Well, she's a very classy lady. This is actually quite common in some of the newer (celtic tiger era) apartment blocks.

Okay "concierge" is to grand a title for a lad with dandruff and zombie breath, but the guy is there to stop skangers from wandering in.

My apartment in London has a 24 hour concierge desk. However the building is HUGE and there are a few entrances so in this case I have no problems. Concierge desk are in 85 percent of buildings in London. At least the nicer ones.
However as an escort, if I was going to acquire a new apartment I wouldn't get one with a concierge unless there were ways around making clients walk past.

I would find it a bit off putting, though forewarned is forearmed.

I have no problem with hotels/reception as there is a lot of traffic usually,
but a concierge in a lonely reception of an apartment complex could be awkward.

Appreciate the affluence of having glorified security on the door but if he stops you what interesting excuse do u manage to stammer out ....lol

Errmm...I've heard about concierge apartments. Never been to one.

I would be uneasy but I guess it depends on the concierge really. Is the concierge in the know and on the take - in which case it would be to his advantage to keep things discreet. Or is the concierge likely to get suspicious (i.e not in the know) and blow the whistle.

I've seen one established touring lady who told me that on a previous tour she had used an apartment with a concierge, and said the concierge was very helpful! (I have no idea whether she slipped something under the counter to the concierge to keep him sweet? I'd be too polite to pry into how a lady runs her business.)

At the end of the day - it's going to depend on how comfortable I am with the lady I'm going to see. Would have a higher trust level in an escort who is established and has plenty of good reivews. I'm talking about trusting the lady's ability to keep things discreet (not talking about personal integrity - which clearly any lady can have regardless of how long she's been in the business.)

Anyway, to cut the waffle - I would chance going to one of these apartments if I felt the lady knew her business very well. i would probably cancel if I felt the lady was new to this.

On the other hand I would be very unhappy visiting a hotel regardless of whom I'm going to see.
