So... I'm assuming that the anti-bullfighting opinions come from people who are committed vegetarians.
Or not?

Animals bred for slaughter for the meat industry live short, pretty grim lives.
They're a commodity, pure and simple.
Animals bred for "entertainment" in the ring live short, pampered lives.
They're the alpha males, and are treated as such.
(Until, of course, they're tormented for a short period of time and executed in dramatic fashion).

Yep, it's barbaric... but UFC's barbaric. War is barbaric. Any chest-beating, gladitorial, blood-letting is barbaric.
I don't agree with it. But I can understand why it happens.

North Sea cod Trawlers drag a hanger net behind them, resulting in the catchand suffocation of many many types of fish that are then thrown back as corpses as regulations do not allow them to be landed. No one seems to want to hug a fish. Everyone likes fish and chips

There are those who buy line caught fish. You're quite right, look what its done to the cod population. We might all like fish and chips, but it probably isn't cod your eating because there aren't many decent sized cod fish left.

I only eat animals that I've killed myself.

That principle works for me, and I wouldn't pass judgement on anyone who works by different principles.

So after you've banned Bullfighting next on your hit list would be horse racing (like the Grand National) and fishing (the most popular sport in the UK and ROI), both thought to be cruel and barbaric by some sections of the population?
