Out of curiosity Mark, why would you want to reduce your profile on this site? I don't see how your identity can be compromised if you are careful with the information you divulge.
A user name (and Avatar for that matter) develops a reputation on this site. It adds weight to anything you may say and in your case - your many trustworthy reviews.
I would feel it would be a real loss if you started posting under a different name (which is not allowed of course). You have a great reputation on this site Mark, one which you have earned, so why would you want to give that up and start from scratch?
As far as I can see - those who have returned under different user names are those who had dodgy reputations to start with and/or may have been banned.
I fully appreciate you've given this some thought hence the request to change your username. I just wanted to state the reasons I see this as a negative rather than a positive.
