Good to hear Sophie. I hope you do manage ro quit. I dont smoke, so dont have much knowledge on the subject. I think Doozer IIRC stopped smoking there a while back so he may have some useful tips. Good luck.

the best way to stop smoking is DONīT SMOKE.

Good for you - keep it up & think of the money you are saving (not to mention your health!)

    What you really need is,
    - something to put in your mouth to ease the oral cravings
    - something to keep your hands busy
    - someone to kick when the frustration gets too much

... i'm available day or night

You forgot to smoke! Wow. As a smoker forgetting to smoke is about as likely as forgetting to breath. Sad but true.

Quitting is shite Soph- good luck.

Check out this thread by Erika it has lots of good advice etc

I gave up smoking about 15 yrs ago, was doing 40 to 50 a day, there is no easy way its just willpower, i think
it really has alot to do with ure personality and determination if u suceed or not. Personaly i found the first couple
of weeks easier than the 3rd and 4th weeks because even though the cravings were stronger in the beginning so
was my resolve. I was thrilled when i beat the addiction and now i detest them under no circumstances would i
ever again smoke. So take heart it is very possible to give them up. Remember no pain no gain and any.thing in this
world which is worthwhile acheiving usually demands some sacrfice and pain.

Ps To motivate ureself put the money that u would spend on them in a jar etc
    Remember if u smoke 20 a day that is 8.50 x 365 = 3102.50
Now couldnt Sophie have a great holiday or a big shopping spree with 3 grand
So think about that and best of luck
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed

It's been about 3 months for me now. It's so insignificant at this stage that I have forgotten to keep count of the weeks.
I don't really know how I did it, except to tell myself with every craving, If I light one now it's gonna taste like shite. Before you know it you will be through your first week.
I now go to the gym for 2 hours.. 3 times a week... and I love it! When I smoked I would have got out of breath tying the laces up my trainers!
Well done for getting through Day 1 - Good luck with it x
