I'm tending to believe that it takes time - possibly generations - for cultural barriers to break down and for different ethnicities to live side by side as opposed to in separate packets around town. I would love to see a situation in Ireland where everyone is as accepted as the next person. Unfortunately I think multi culturalism in this country is still far too young to be anything like that.

Re. Ambers post, I can't believe someone would want to hide the fact that they slept with a person whose skin colour is different to theirs. It's baffling.

Your right Banjo, it does take time, generations. The Irish in the Uk is a good example how they have assimulated into the population. But it does take time, attitudes change slowly.

I think you're dead right Banjo. There are individuals who will be willing to break the mould and assimilate crosss culturally, but the vast majority of people can't throw off their roots, inhibitions and xenophobic tendencies.

I believe it does take time and probably one or two generations. However, sometimes the opposite can occur and the racial/ethnic divisions worsen over generations. There are examples in Europe of Ethnic gropus that have emigrated years ago but subsequent generations have become even more disenfranchised and alienate.

Emigration into Ireland is a relatively new thing - brought on by the now dead 'Celtic Tiger', i.e. only in the last 10 years. The U.K. has a lot more time to assimilate cultures (we're talking since the 1960's).

Historically a lot longer than that Morph...the Hugenots and the Jews in the C19th and before, both lived in 'ghettos' for generations before dispersing. I agree it can also gothe other way and those that remain 'ghettoised' (?) can become more alienated.

Agreed Mellors. Look at the Travelling community in Ireland for example. They want better education yet their culture rejects it in many ways. They wanted equal rights at first (which they always had) but now want a seperate ethnic identity from the rest of Irish people or "settled people" which they call us. It madness and they're only damaging themselves as a people. Like, we don't know what the future will bring. Ireland in a 100 or 200 years will be a very different place. If say for example we had our own crazy fuck like Hitler in charge then what would happen to a seperate identified ethnic group like the Travellers? Its a move that can only backfire on them. I hope they drop their ways and just integrate for their own sake and security. Get on with mordern life and develope together. Some of them are actually hot.

In my experience when people first arrive in a new country they tend to be drawn to people that are of similar backgrounds to the for language reasons, religion, culture etc. This is understandable. When I moved to Paris I spent all my time with Londoners till I realised the need to integrate.

I have found the attitudes in Ireland to be somewhat more backwards. I had never experienced racism before like I did when i first came and I find that certain people believe to date outside of your race/religion is taboo. I have even had a client tell me he didn't want to review me as they didn't want people to know they had slept with a black woman!

Obviously not all Irish people take the same view and things will change over time but I have noticed a big difference
So sorry you have been treated like that, things like that sometimes make me ashamed to be Irish

Most of my posse are folks that are very liberal and enlightened and many have settled with other nationalities colours and creeds. I personally (not that I don't like Irish women) would prefer to settle with a lady from else where.

Oh and I love black ladies and TS girls too. Maybe we could have an intergender/interracial 3 way?

I don't see colour when I look at a man although I do have certain type of men that sexually attract me. It would be a sad boring world if we all stuck with people luck ourselves.

Yes he is a regular poster. I don't even care about bloody reviews. I have met a few posters who for whatever reason decided not to leave a review. Maybe they ha a shite time and didn't want to leave me a bad mark lol. However when someones problems are about race you have to just feel sorry for them I guess.
