The term Bank Holiday was coined upon the introduction of the first ever paid holidays workers were given, during the Industrial Revolution. Prior to this the only time off was from Saturday afternoon to Sunday, but not necessarily both. The politician who created it always intended it to be a holiday for all workers. I cant remember his name before anyone asks.

Is it a Bank Holiday in Northern Ireland tomorrow???
