    Default Legalise It!(not escorting...)

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...reaking37.html

An ongoing debate no doubt since the modern enforcement of these substances from the early part of the prudish 20th century. It is shocking the amount of money spent by various governments to either police, jail, or combat illegal drug use. I am of the opinion that like the topic of escorting, if legal, then education becomes the priority, not policing. With informed consumers then the free will of the individual in society should be what allows them to participate in such activities, ie drug use or escorts.

I've no doubt that this has been discussed here before, but here is a recent news story with some global policy shapers, suggesting that it is time to review the "old" way of viewing the use of drugs in society.

if we seperate the substances from the affects of prohibition,
we observe that continuing to prohibit, exacerbates the situation.
a situation that will never be eradicated. why not give the mob tobacco too?

It's going to take time, but eventually it will be legalize; there's a generation, or two of people who think more fondly of it than the previous generations' poison-drink-and as a result wll not have negative vibes about legalizing it. I, my self can take it or leave it, but since it no longer makes any sense to keep it illegal, then I'm all for legalizing it

Agree with this. No reason why weed should be illegal.

I can't agree with you there timdog. It's too easy to jump on the bandwagon that the policy makers are building - they are approaching this argument using a simple cost/benefit analysis.

I could get all high fallutin' and quote categorical imperatives till they were coming outta my hairy arse but to get some perspective here you gotta ask yourself:
Just because its right for you; Does that automatically imply that it will be right for everyone, without contradiction, if's, but's or maybe's?
If the answer is no, what you have to accept is that there is nothing in this world or the next, which is truly right or good except a good will or intention and the road to hell is paved with good intentions...

There's a great tv show caledd 'Intervention' that I'm sure if you watched about 4 hours of its programming , you woudn't have the same view towards legalizung it; it's the least of society's problems.

illegal or not i still smoke weed
not trying to brag or act a hard man but weed is very easy to buy, as most of you probably know already, i'm 19 years old in college at the moment
and to be honest i have loads of mates who sell half ounces or an ounce and even know people who grow it
i walk around sometimes smoking it just for a little buzz, does be gas when i feel like im about to fall
the garda dont do anything when they see you smoke it,
the 1 time i actually almost got arrested for it was when i was 16 and had half a kilo in my bag of green , garda car stops me checks it, takes it gives me a warning then drives off
to be honest i think he smoked it cause he was smiling as he drove off haha
so i cant see any reason why it shouldnt be legal except there should of course be rules if it was legal, like no consumption in public places or a person is not aloud carry more then a quarter ounce.
but i agree with the op

Yep, everybody here at least knows somebody who smokes it. 99% of the people I know smoked it and the other 1% wouldnt surprise me if they did too.

What a stoner... Why do stoners have such a hard time accepting that it's illegal?
I love weed - I've grown it and I have smoked the living shit out of the weed, but that doesn't make the case to legalise it. Any one who carries a bag of weed in a place where the cops will find it, deserves to be put away. It's like driving through the streets with a woman bound and gagged in the back seat - you just don't it.
I think I'm pretty well qualified through benefit of copious consumption, to say that the legislation exists to protect.......Um What was I talking about?
