people suffering with depression have lost their resilience to life.
they will believe that life is a waste of time and happy people are fools.

i think you are mistaking people who are 'fed up' with those suffering
from clinical depression-one of the scariest illnesses known to mankind.

Here, I don't know where you think I came from, but I assure you its from a place that has known its share of depressed people who were on the edge; most feel powerless, that their lives couldn't possibly get better, that the end is near, and I found the best way to deal with people like that is to have a FUCK IT attitude; go on, go live life the best way you like .. No point in crying over them, telling to go see a shrink, or take meds, sometimes people don't want that, they what hear someone telling them to grab life by the balls 'You can do this'. And then they might go in to therapy and/or take meds.

I use to run brothels where some of the most fucked up,low self-esteem, mentally and emotionally batered people you ever want to meet were found, but I inspired them, made them feel confident, and installed the motto ''I can do this', now, the brothel wasn't the only place I use this brutally hardcore mindset, I harnassed it in the foster homes and group homes of San Francisco when I wasn't at home with the family, so whatever works for you, fine, but I also know away thats equally affective.

No Anita that wasn't negative. It was realistic.

It is not as simple as telling someone to keep a couple of grand handy to go to an airport with when they feel really low. If it were that simple I think levels of depression would be a little lower.

Also I never stated my reasons for going to Africa so please don't be so assuptous. I said I wanted to go to Africa to work for an NGO. My reasons are not directly poverty.

Right, if you've never suffered from depression, frankly you can piss off with your stupid, ignorant opinions. Do you know what people with depression go through? The despair, the mental torture? No. You haven't got a clue. It's a mental illness, and one that should be taken seriously.

Positive mental attitude can only get you so far. Your point about two people with broken arms was one of the stupidest things I have ever had the misfortune of reading.

I don't see any need to lock the thread.
It just shows the ignorance of posters like Westside. I await the day the chemical balance in his brain change and he finds his nice easy life turned upside down. Then perhaps he can come back and post.
