Fair enough but that's not really the point that I was trying to make. If you truly believe yourself to be a Catholic then by all means tick Catholic on the census form. My point is that people who are just automatically going to tick Catholic out of a sense of tradition and familiarity should think about these issues and consider if they really want to continue to support an institution that believes the protection of their wealth, power and influence is more important than the protection of children.
I understand that you are trying to make a distinction between Catholics and the organisation and that's fair enough and correct. I'm not trying to influence Catholics, I'm trying to influence the "I don't believe in God but I'm still Catholic" 's .
