You can't disprove that God exists, in the same way you can't prove that he exists. The notion that the onus is on religious people to prove his existence because they're the ones who want you to believe in him doesn't make sense from a neutral philosophical point of view. After all, Shrodinger's Cat can be both alive and dead at the same time.

I once had a great conversation with a Deist who reckoned that the Big Bang was God topping himself.

I also think we're looking in the wrong place for God. He is not watching us from some otherworldly ethereal vault - he is waiting for us all behind the last scientific theorem.

There may well be God but if the Holy Bible is the definitive word of God and the last word on morality then I'm Abraham.....well...uh...Lincoln...

The onus is on religious people because they're the ones who want to convert the rest of us. I don't try to prove to anyone that God doesn't exist, because I honestly don't care whether anyone else thinks he exists or not.

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

Religion is a control mechanism by which the masses could be controllable by a few, which is why I will stick with Homer.......

Simpson that is and to quote the great man “I'm not normally a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman!”

This is arrent nonsense. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. I mean, I could claim that an invisible pink elephant sitting on my shoulder created and controls the world. Should this claim be given equal validity to the claim that I'm deluded.

This is the strategy of the fundie whackjobs who say both Creationism and Evolution are theories that should be taught with equal emphasis in schools.

Look! Religious people. Don't argue with atheists on logical grounds. You lose every time, because belief in The Big Ugga Bugga Man in the Sky is not logical. Your best bet is the 'FAITH' strategy. You believe in God because you have faith that he/she/it is there. Don't worry that this is the same as saying something is true because you would like it to be true.

    As to the OP:

The idea of 'filling the void' is meaningless to the true atheist. You are projecting your own impulses onto us.

Atheists like Richard Dawkins seem just as eager to convert lol.

Why are religious people always trying to save the non believers? The same can be said for non believers trying to convert the religious. Thats pisses me off, let people believe in whatever works for them. I think having faith in a god or higher power can be a good thing even a positive thing. Truely believing in heaven and the afterlife must be a beautiful thing to believe in.

Me? When I look at all the suffering and shit in the world I think either god exists and doesn't care or dosen't exist. I have no real faith in a god of any kind, certainly no faith in a afterlife. I think organised religion is evil. But don't let my believes influnce yours.
