Yes Erika, Champix (as Willyup says) is available from your GP. Usually prescribed when Nicotine replacement therapies have failed. Its a tablet taken twice a day for 12 weeks. The good news is you are allowed to smoke for the first week while the tablets kick in. It is probably the most effective medically proven method of smoking cessation.
It works centrally on the brain and prevents craving for cigarettes. It does have some side effects e.g. bad dreams, sleep disturbance and stomach discomfort. A recent study however, showed that the side efects were no different from a placebo (except for the stomach disturbances).
As you have pointed out Erika, smoking appears to be an occupational hazard for escorts. The uncertain nature of appointments, the waiting around, the long days, difficult clients and the need to stay slim all add up.
If you have decided to try going on Champix (Varinicline), it's probably best to start it when you are taking a break from escorting to give yourself the best chance possible at quiting. Weight gain when stopping smoking is always a problem, so investing in a regular exercise regime at the same time you quit smoking is the best possible advice (given the other health benefits of exercise).
