Nikki, what you and other escorts do differs from the generally perceived view of a 'hooker' or 'prostitute'.
I have been to places like Amsterdam and Hamburg and that is seedy.
Going to a nice apartment to be 'entertained' by an escort for 30 mins or an hour is the complete opposite of seedy.

I work in a service industry and all my customers are referred to as clients, so I consider myself a client of escorts providing a professional service.

To me it seems like an English colloquialism more so than our own. Basically it doesn't feel natural or something I would say. Client yes I agree with scotus seems pretentious but it is something I would accept.

    English Alex,

I detest the terms "punter, punting, punt". When I think of these words, punting on the River Cam is what comes to mind!!! And I am sure you would agree that there is no comparison between floating in a narrow boat on a river and the intimate moments between two or more adults. To me, this is a hobby as it is an extracurricular activity that is quite enjoyable and fulfilling just like any other activity or hobby that a person indulges in. I prefer being called a hobbyist and this is why I have 'other" as my designation.

For me, it is about experiencing all I can and learning from each experience. Isn't that the point in having a hobby? Whether it is boating, golfing, horses, tennis, wine, women, etc; people invest money and time because they derive enjoyment from these activities.

    Regards.

Always refer to my gentlemen as clients as you would in any service profession.

To be honest, I have no strong feelings about the terminology.

I can see why many prefer the term 'client'.

However, I am so used to the terms 'punter', 'punting' and 'punt' that I fail to recognise any of the derogatory connotations associated with it. I fully appreciate the comments by many that the term is seedy. However, I am so familiar with the above terms that I don't see its negative associations anymore (or never did anyway).

This topic has been discussed before, and I don't think we will ever come to a consensus on it. For my part, I guess I have to be more sensitive to the feelings and perceptions of those who hate the above terms.

Regarding terminology for ladies working in the trade - I would prefer 'Princess' but as no one else uses that term, 'escort' will suffice. Any other terms used for said ladies are generally less complimentary or outright derogatory. So you won't catch me using any of those terms when referring to our lovely ladies.

Ever notice in my threads I only refer to our wonderful members of the opposite sex as ladies or girls ?
