Whether it is first visit or not, I think it is always nice to bring something. It helps breaks the ice, sets the tone and creates a friendly atmosphere.

Personally I always bring choccies, wine or both. Can't see myself doing the flowers thing, sorry ladies.
For repeat visits I try get something that means something, something thoughtful. Not necessarily expensive, could be silly and humorous

By the looks of things wine is not strong enough for some ladies. I'll have to start bringing the hard stuff.

All women love a gift but it is not a requirement and I don't think it's the norm(from what I have heard from ladies anyway).

I have brought gifts on special occasions for ladies that I have gotten to know from repeat visits.
Flowers are nice, but I don't think they are an ideal gift when you are going to an apartment and trying to look discrete and take directions.

even a glass of wine is nice from the bar if at hotel :0)

Whats the most suitable gift for your date... wine chocs flowers ? or are gifts the done thing ?

i would always bring a small gift,nothing to serious,a good bot of wine or some nice chocs.its nice to be nice

I think a gift can be a great prop in the pleasant fiction of the GFE, it helps both people pretend that this escape of an hour or so is something more than a transaction in carnal pleasures. I wouldn't make a habit of it, but as mark444 pointed out, it can add a little added dimension to the experience, because it's nice to be nice.
