I must say I hate having to ring when I get to the door, but I guess sometimes it can be the only place the escort can take a look at you from for security reasons. Which is understandable.

that's exactly my approach to appointments. It not only means that you look like you live there, but it also give you and escort every opportunity to say you are running late or can't make it for whatever reason.
