    You're already speaking like an Irish woman Denise!! I love it!

    As others have mentioned above, punting has some connotations of risk taking, or taking a chance on something.

    So it doesn't really apply you Denise. As I can testify (and many others) that with you - its guaranteed satisfaction!

    (Although in theory there's the risk of one losing one's heart to you! I'm going to leave now before i come up with any more cheesy one liners!)

    'punters' is a general term for customers or people who pay in to see an event such as a concert or horse racing.

    So if you are in a pub some evening and sitting at the bar being chatted up by the barman and it's a bit empty and you say to him 'it's quiet here tonight' and he says 'dont worry, we get a lot of punters in after 10pm' , don't either;

    A) get excited
    or
    B) leave immediately in a panic
    ok so pounter its not a serial killer is it?) i usualy get paniced if monkeynut dont respnd on my thread......

    I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that before we had the Euro as our currency in Ireland.
    The currency was the Punt. Hence the term punting in gambling, risking punts.

    A sure even a broken watch is correct twice a day :-)

    No idea. Google it. I'm in a cafe. Internet slow.

    And if it mentions the Irish punt, I'll eat me own mickey!
