It can be addictive. But anytime I wanted a break I just took it myself.
I guess there are lots of people more addicted then me

I would like to contribute something to this thread, but before I do I have to get something off my chest

    EEEEEEEERIKAAAAAAAA…….. Muaaah.

Now, I have an addictive personality. I used to be addicted to dope, but kicked that 10 years ago. I used to be addicted to porn, but found a replacement for that. I used to be addicted to cigs, but kicked that habit 22:35 03/01/2011. Now I am addicted to sex and the craic on this site. Not so easy to kick. But as with all addictions, you have to WANT to kick it to actually kick it. I don’t want to kick the sex thing….yet.

“Why can’t he just not log on and take a break”… Oh Gawd… this is what ye all said when I took my little break. Actually Sam that reminds me… thanks for starting the thread “James is taking a break” FFS. I was trying to sneak away quietly as Anon is now attempting to do. I tried stopping before, but failed. Lasted two weeks. It is not that easy for some. My line of work puts me in front of a keyboard 10 hours a day. Look at my post count FFS. It’s fine for the guys who do not have any connectivity during the day to pop in once or twice a week and then cast judgement on others. Its fine for other guys who only have a passing interest in the boards to sneer at those more involved. It’s fine for the stronger willed individuals to express disbelief at members who asked to be banned. Is it an illness?... you know, it probably is. An addiction is an addiction.

During my month off, I regained parts of my family life and work life I had lost. I have reflected on this new addiction, as I have done before with the others I have kicked, and am monitoring it carefully. If it gets out of hand again, don’t be surprised to see me gone again. So let’s not cast judgement, and let’s let Anon have his little break.

And Anon…. I know you are reading this…lol. (I have always wanted to repay you for doing this to me…)

Fair enough, if that works for you, Anon and other members, no problem whatsoever.
The end result justifies the means

I do remain of the opinion you are taking the scenic road about this problem though. Even if some members request to be banned, if the addiction is so big they can just create a new account when they get the urge to post. If they resist to do so, they can also resist to log in anymore. Simple.
