i don't watch dragon's den. i did the first season, but found it typical of something RTE tries to do. Take someones elses idea and try and put an irish slant on it. it dosen't usually work, and hasn't in this case. its a pale imitation of the original in my opinion. i also don't like the dragons. i think they are too full of themselves. if i was a participant on the program, not that i'd ever be, and i was looking for 20 grand for 5% of my company, that's what i'd give. none of this crap about, ok, i'll give 10 grand, but i want 30%. fuck you. i know some people are desperate to get a bit of backing, but really, if your idea is good, you will make it without having to suffer one of those wankers.

The english show is much better i agree. I think the irish one is great but the panel on the bbc show is much better which makes for a better show.

Personally I slightly prefer the Irish show.

    i watched last nights show:

the kid's party box idea-expensive, small profit.

the bin lock-exagerated problem. he declined an offer that included route to market.

secret recipe co-cucumber relish, they said that market was limited and competitive.

spare parts website-boring, yet a very real problem with machinery. he got a deal.

I've done business with 2 of the panel. One of them is a complete dickhead and the other isn't too bad. At the end of the day they are investing their own money and I can understand why they give potential partners a hard time when questioning them. However, the one thing that I find a little misleading on the irish version is that none of the dragons with the exception of the now departed Sarah would make the top 100 rich list in Ireland. Compared to the UK version which have guys on the panel that are worth hundred of millions.

Seems a lot easier to get a deal on the irish one than the english one.

Duncan Ballintyne from Glasgow, (UK version) he started off buying one
ice cream van and touring tough housing estates for young customers.
then a fleet of ice cream vans, a tough competitive business.
then an old peoples home (€900 pw), then several.
several hotels and fitness gyms throughout the UK.

he hates smoking. he has a will that forbids his family from smoking.
i find him arrogant and in your face, but why should he be all mouse like,
he has created an empire-that must play with the head/ego as well.

Gavin on the Irish show is on the ball, ruthless.

yes love the show, i think the panel on bbc are more credible, being self made people of big net worth but they dont half put some of the contestants down!
can any1 tell me; is the rte version the panels own money or the rtes money (our money!)

Great show! Love it. But the apprentice is the best show! Irish one or Uk one!
