I would not be too sure though if it's the standard of education that's at fault. I think it has a lot to do with the youth of today not giving a crap and maybe even purposfully not doing it correctly because it's "cool" to be a rebel. Texting does have a lot to do with it to be sure.

About those whose first language is not English. You frequently find that they have a far better grasp of the technical side of English than native speakers because they've had to study it as opposed to a native speaker who learnt it by sound from those around them. Grammer, punctuation etc. can be much better because it's more of a science to them that they've had to study.

I definitely think texting has had a major impact and that has evolved into email, message board forums and other forms of communication.

That's just a lazy attitude Doozer. I know Anon gave an example some time ago of a sentence with lots of spelling errors, but you could still get the gist of what was being said. I know some people suffer from dyslexia but, with most, it's just laziness.

True it could be Forrest. Another thing would be people cant type. Or they type to fast as in my case and I hit the wrong button or pusha few wrong buttons. Some people then know the words but never actually wrote them much and as a result they cant spell them. But once again as long as the content can be grasped its ok
