I don't think there's any good way to 'break up' Rachel. Breaking up has universally been a bad experience for me regardless of who was doing the breaking up.

I believe in doing it face to face. And always being nice about it i.e not saying things I'll regret. Preferably done in a private place (i.e. my place or hers) to save embarassment and allow space for the natural emotional fallout.

This is all talking about breaking up with someone I actually like. Either way the hardest thing I find is actualy setting a day and doing it. Have speant weeks agonizing over when was the 'right time' some years ago.

I've since realised that there is no right time or right way.

Some of you have been a little flippant in your replies.
Rachel will have enjoyed some good times with this person too.
I have been dumped and I have had to end relationships.

Once i decided that I did not want to persue things with a partner,
I couldn't look them in the eye etc, so had to tend to matters.

Others have advised you on how to do this dutifully.
The healing process will begin soon after you relay your new outlook.
