A person is, in many ways, a product of their circumstances, whether they shape the world around themselves or are shaped by it. So if you found yourself 1,000 years in the future, the different life you would be leading would make the person you are reading about, at best, somebody you used to be.

In a thousand years it won't matter, because the Great Old Ones will be back by then
