I agree to some extent with you Rachel. Having lived in English speaking countries for the last almost 15 years, I will still say my Danish is better than my English. I will be much more able to have small word plays, humour etc in Danish than I would English or for the humour Irish. So for the communication side and humour side, I without a doubt prefer Danes or Nordics, simply because they would easier understand what I say or interpret what I say based on the tonation I do it in, simply because that is the way it is done in Denmark/Nordic countries.
As for your second part about preferring someone from your country, with exception, I don't think I agree. Being able to communicate in your native tongue is just one thing in a long string of things that makes you attracted to someone. For me it isn't the most important thing. I married based on what I believe is the closest to all those things I have set up as important for me.

Thanks for your honesty Rachel. I agree with the importance of communication.
