The most important bit for me in the "dressing up for a punt" ritual is the shower and scrub just before i leave. And a dash of colongne , plus a rinse out with mouth wash.
Always dress very casual (but with fresh clothes) - so that they can come off and be put back on quickly. Also the casual look is so as not to draw any attention. Undies - dark boxer briefs (pulling pants!
).
Its quite different to how I would dress up if I were going out for a night out on the town - which would be slightly more flashy. As mentioned above, don't want to draw any unecesssary attention when punting.
I have actually walked right past people I know when going into apartment complexes without them recognizing me. I've put that down to the dressing down rather than blind luck.
