Personality versus Looks- you decide

So, when I was growing up I was taught its more important to be interesting then pretty. Looks fade and an empty husk is just a husk. Men of course, tend to go for the latter and think about the former at leisure.

What is your take on it? Is it nice to be nice or not important at all?

Why one or the other? Why not both!

I, like most men (well I shouldn't really taint them all, as there are some good ones out there, just not me) am incredibly shallow and get all excited by a pretty girl.

If I don't fancy a girl, I'm never going to take it further romantically. However, the looks bit only goes so far, and its the girls personality that would make me really fall in love.

So in answer to your question - Yes, being nice is really important, and more important than physcial beauty in the long run. Beauty is important too but you know what - a bit of effort- make up ,nice dress and a nice smile and I'm smitten.

I go for looks! personality always comes after. That's what attracts me first to women.

I'm doing my own little bit of research here.
I guess you are under 40.
I wonder what ther cutoff is when personalilty becomes an issue. Not that it isn't now, and not that maturity doesn't bring with it wisdom, but I still say give them a good lash up the hoop and run.

I guess looks are important for an initial attraction but for anything more long term personality is way more important.
