Room, Emma Donaghue
Crimson Petal and the White, Michel Faber
The shortlist for the Booker prize is usually worth a look.
If life gives you lemons ask for Tequila
Only sad bastards seek gratification from signatures
"The Assyrian" by Nicholas Guild. If you manage to get your hands on a copy it is an absolute classic. Usually available on Amazon. Great story, great plot
Dont know if this is going off topic a bit but if your looking for a book with a great selection of poetry check out the reprint of the old LC book Soundings or failing that make your way through Miltons Paradise Lost..
After having read Dean Koontz's Frankenstein series and loved it, (Two more books to come in the series) his next book 'What the Night Knows' is coming out 6 jan, and it sounds just as great. Recommended reading
You can't go wrong with "The curious incident of the dog in the night time". Think it won the booker.
