For those of you who are interested, I found this book very interesting and it actually transcript of Chapman's interviews, his case study and psychological profile, a reconstruction of the murder and details of the medical reports of John's death:
Let Me Take You Down: Inside The Mind Of Mark David Chapman, The Man Who Shot John Lennon: Inside the Mind of Mark David Chapman - Man Who Shot John Lennon: Amazon.co.uk: J Jones, Jack Jones: Books
Very detailed and I have to say, gave me goose bumps reading it.
It was a complete waste of a life because i think for the whole of the 1970's Lennon and Bowie were the two best musicans and that includes Elvis who wouldn't remotely belong in the same category as Lennon or Bowie. Imho Lennon was by far the best musician of the Beetles.

It was really a combination of Lennon and McCartney that was the perfect blend (George Harrison was much overshadowed by the Lennon and McCartney partnership, but he had his chance to shine at times). Ultimately, I don't think John could have gone at it alone without the profile of the Beatles behind him, but I agree he was a fantastic musician!
