I do think that there is too much of a level of paranoia going on here. The Ugly Mugs system is available to all the escort advertisers. Its not secret as you say. Its a way for the escorts to share information on bad clients and hopefully protect them from potential harm / extortion etc.
If you have a real concern around this maybe you should PM one of the mods and get some sort of definitive answer and then you can let us all know the bad news.
