I get that but it would still be interesting to see how they actually perfom in a gov. It would be interesting to see them test the waters so to speak. It will be a labour / FG gov but sweet jesus Kenny is dreadfully slow. Gilmore isnt bad.

It's about time let's have a general election.
Get rid of the crowd we have in at the moment.
The government have destroyed this country the place I grew up in the country I love.
People say there is no one better out ther but they can't be as bad as whats in power know.
It's time for change one thinks.

It all depends on what was agreed with the EU and the IMF. Like i said a bailout is one thing but its the terms agreed that will impact this country more in the long run. Im hoping that the IMF say in all of this will be limited to the banking system and not fiscal pollicy. We no longer have monetary policy so if we loose our fiscal policy then we have zero say in the running of the country. Hopefully this isnt the case which i doubt it is because for the first time in a long time the EU actually need us instead of the other way around.

    big props to Sweden though,

Once the details of the bailout are finalised, we will no longer be in control of our own financial policies. If as a country, company or individual, you are not in control of financial policies then you are not in control. The Green Party know this. So calling for a general election was enevitable . It no longer matters what parties are in power as they will have little option but to comply with the terms of any bailout agreed now, and just as the current government have been handcuffed by bank bailouts, NAMA, and budget deficits, until such time as we repay numerous debts to many countries, all political parties will be impotent.

We need to reform our political system from one that centres on the local needs to what is best for the country. Once we do that the local needs will be achieved. as part of natural progression. That will weed out the independents who have supported goverments in return for guarantees of expenditure in their constituency.

The IMF will insist on increase in corporate tax rate, redundancies in the public sector and pay cuts also, increased taxation generally and reduction in capital expenditure. The Croke Park Agreement is dead now and the unions who for so long had the ears of government will also be impotent. That is a good thing.

I am in two minds as to whether I am pleased or angry that the IMG, EU and ECB are now involved. Pleased because it will force things to be changed previously there was no political will to change. Angry because we choose who we put in power, on the basis that they are competent to do the job, in our best interests, but we have been terribly let down and we have lost some of our independence as a result.

Apparently someone told me there are a few days left to be registered to vote. Are the greens pilling a stunt here to minimise the electoral kick in the daddy bags?

You see what ppl are fuckin sick off is the uncertainity. Ppl (businesses included) want to know where they stand so they can plan ahead. FFS they cant plan ahead. Look at it now? We dont even know if the next budget will be passed through. We dont know when a general election will be. We are being kept in the fuckin dark and its getting old. FFS i want to plan things out so will some politician tell me what teh fuck they plan on doing so i can plan?

is that too much to ask for?
