I see where you are coming from but to be honest you might as well use the mouthwash cap.
I do not think a rinse under water would improve things germ wise.
Or am I been a germ freak?

The cap has a lot of places that germs can hide between the treads, class is much smoother.
Well put it this way... you are happy to drink from a glass in a pub or restaurant. Not knowing the glasses history.
