In theory Aer Lingus isn't obliged to accept the US Declaration of Independence, but in practice I would'nt like to be a country or business trying to do business with the United States of America if I did'nt accept their declaration. I mean if Obama finds out that the chief honsho of Aer Lingus does'nt accept the declaration, he just has to send up a few fighters from Andrews Air Force base, the next time Aer Lingus decided to violate American airspace. Furthermore, if Ireland did not accept the declaration, I doubt that the United States of America would have established diplomatic relations with the fledgling Irish state.

I don't know how Obama would deal with a situation like this but if it were up to Bill Clinton, I'm sure he would smooth matters out. He was something of an expert on such matters..............hell he'd probably even coax Aer Lingus into paying to get your man's trousers dry cleaned.
