    If I don't know how to pronounce someone's name then I ask, escort or not. So far no one has ever complained.

    You are a wise man, Gordo. I usually start the call with "Hello, is this __________ ?" You are always one step ahead.

    "Hello" is a good start. Then I normally give my own name, but I've noticed that many people don't. Then I ask the "is this ____?" question. Then, if unsure, I say something like "Am I pronouncing that correctly?". The whole thing takes only a few seconds.

    This reminded me of a time when I asked an escort "Is this ____" and said her name incorrectly and she snapped back at me with the correct pronounciation. I did not meet with this lady.
