OK so I said I was going to reboot and come back, there was a change of plan, I went out and just logged back in and the whole damn place has changed. Perhaps the problems I was having were glitches coming into effect just before this whole new look came online.
BTW, on first glance the new look board looks fantastic!

We have reverted to default design. The only known issues at the moment are on the profile pages, there seems to be a problem bringing up the friends and infractions tabs. Trying to fix this now.
