Whether or not there is a deeper meaning to that I dont know.
Perhaps the whole 'sci-fi' fantasy thing has a meaning to it. Do you wish for an alternative lifestyle?

    I chose mine because...

    I like it?
Is this the land where sun brightly shines, is this the existence of a heaven's sign?
Is this the locus the hallowed focus, where grace love and harmony combine?

I've been considering why I was drawn to frogs as a choice of an avatar. The only thing I can think of is that for me, frogs are a symbol of change (from tadpole to frog) and are subtle creatures. I'm not sure if 'subtle' sums me up, but I can't think of any other reason.
True but I believe the universial symbol for change is teh butterfly. The opdeipus concept was a misconception but does illustrate the point. Correlation Sam does not equal causation so even if there may be a link between a mans preference fora woman and the fact that she may have similar traits expressions of his mother does not mean he is choosing them because of that

Yes, but it's important to remember that all our experiences are different, and also cultural differences play a part in all of this. A symbol for one person is different to another. As for the whole 'looking like your mother' thing, I didn't say I agreed with it.

That is true but the question now is why you went away from teh more common version to a more abstract version of the synmbol

Just to vary people's views on it really, because everyone's experiences are different.

    You're not really a penguin?

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

In my current circumstances you bet I wish for an alternative lifestyle.
