Someone had the brilliant suggestion that all of the rescuers and everyone around the rescue shaft should have been dressed in Planet of the Apes masks and suits - just to scare the shit out of the miners as they came up!

Definitely an opportunity missed!

It's worth pointing out that it wasn't just men coming up from the mine, there were also several who went down the rescue shaft to help. That also takes a certain amount of courage.
