I was reading relatively recently about how, in some pockets in England, going to a brothel was considered as natural as going to the pub, and how attitudes had changed markedly

Indeed, the internet has helped. I must say though, that since Belle Du Jour was aired, I have noticed a marked increase in the amount of new escorts who have had an epiphany and decided that they want to be Billie Piper. Unfortunately having the necessary tackle does not quite equate with a successful career, and in England incident reports have increased markedly. It is a worrying trend.
