it also states clearly that I only did it to "wind a certain ex-mod up"
Wind = the action used to gather a line or piece of string into a controlled and organised order.
"ex-mod" someone who used to be a "mod", ie the opposite to a rocker.
The entire sentence means I was trying to get my father (dead now) into line and to stop listening to Paul Weller etc.
