Now if ever the term 'legend' applied to a band, then it applied to these:

And now that I have the hang of this (thanks samlad), it seems churlish to mention Mountain without the equally influential Cream, another definitely meriting the 'Legend' tag

And so, my favourite ever Cream track -

Indeed, my friend! Eric Clapton, Jack Burns and Ginger Baker! What a combination!

You just beat me to it!

I was going to point out that Jim Morrison is considered only one of three modern music artists whose words alone would hold up as poetry.

But the music was great also, and they hardly had a bad track across any of their albums.

His spoken word dialogues were superb - check out the one about petitioning the Lord with prayer, where he ends up bawling
"YOU CANNOT PETITION THE LORD WITH PRAYER"

    Classic!

I know Led Zeppelin were mentioned in an earlier post, but it was a brief mention, and I think it is worth mentioning them again.

They were voted recently in the British press as being the most influential band of all time, and have a number of accolades of this nature.
