Stuart Sutcliffe was a bass player too. He stayed in Hamburg and married Astrid Kilcher and later died of a brain hemmoridge. What a great shame. He couldn't play bass anyway. MacCartney used to pull Sutcliffe's lead out of the amp during the performance and made him stand with his back to the crowd (you can see this in some of the old pictures). Lennon begged Sutcliffe to join the band (although he was never really interested), and talked him into buying a bass with some money he made from selling a peice of art (Lennon met Sutcliffe through an art college).Originally Posted by Doozer
