i read this article and i thought that it put forward a strong arguement to legalise prostitution. sure, take it out of the pimps hands, stop the trafficing, provide more health checks. if susan mckay is so certain that prostitutes are under threat from men who use them and their 'male sexual agression' surely legalisation would be the first obvious step in offering more protection to women in this underground industry? she seems to be more interested in pointing the finger, in establishing victim/perpetrator roles. tougher laws will only drive it even further underground. and that would be of no help to anyone at all
