I never got into the Beatles; I appreciate their contribution to Pop, and do think they made great Pop songs; They're not my cap of tea. I like to ROCK, rock hard, and the Beatles just don't do it for me

This is not directly about the Beatles but I saw this article online today.

    From IrishTimes.com

    Irish Times Latest News

John Lennon's killer has been denied parole for the sixth time, three months before the 30th anniversary of the former Beatle's death.

The New York State Division of Parole turned down Mark David Chapman's request, citing concerns "about the disregard you displayed for the norms of our society and the sanctity of human life”.

The three-member parole board panel concluded in written comments that Chapman's "discretionary release remains inappropriate at this time and incompatible with the welfare of the community."

The New York Daily News said the parole division received 75 letters arguing against Chapman's release, including one from Lennon's 77-year-old widow, Yoko Ono, who said last month she believed Chapman posed a risk to her, Lennon's two sons, the public and even to himself.

Her lawyer Peter Shukat told the newspaper that Ono was "very pleased" to hear of the decision to keep Chapman incarcerated.

Chapman (55) is serving a jail sentence of 20 years to life for shooting Lennon four times in the back outside the musician's New York apartment building on December 8th, 1980. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

He has served 29 years of his sentence at a maximum-security facility in Attica, New York.

For the past 20 years he has been allowed conjugal visits with his wife Gloria whom he married in 1979. He has come up for parole every two years since 2000.

Chapman is next eligible for a parole interview in 2012.
    The Truth is out there.

I remember Mark Chapman applying for parole a few years ago, and unsuprisingly he was denied it then.

I'm suprised he wants to leave prison actually. He's considered a 'model' prisoner and became a quilified legal advisor whilst spending his time there, and has won the respect of many of his inmates by giving legal advice and counselling. If he was released, it would just be a massive witch hunt anyway. He's already under special protection and has had many death threats and murder attempts (again, not surprisingly).

Whilst at college, I studied Psychology and decided to study the profile of John Lennon's murder. Mark Chapman was a very troubled man and had a fixation for the Beatles as a child, especially Lennon, and after a series of very complex events, he decided to take out his wrath on John... a great tradegy indeed

Anyway, Chapman's story is a very interesting one, and for any budding Beatle's fan it is quite interesting to study to see why Lennon's death came to be. Slightly morbid, but very interesting.

I see that the Beatles songs are finally going to be available on ITunes.
Should have been done a long time ago but better late than never.
