This is simply more of an anti mod post rather than a constructive post to give ppl a better idea of dealing with the issue of off topic threads.

No it isn't West. It's an attempt to bring the thread back to the original topic. Re-read ber's first post and you will see that this is exactly what he was asking.

I do know what he is asking about and im saying imho care needs to be taken with any restrictions beign brought into play on this matter.

In this case, I just asked a question. It was a bit frustrating insofar as the reply from qph was his interpretation of what the rule on second reviews was, but, having said that.... that's life. If I dont agree with things, that is my problem. The issue I have is with page two of the thread when anon and qph decide to have some banter with each other,

This is fine if one of them takes the responsibility to bring it back on topic, but with several thousand posts between them, they were just indulging themselves and having fun with each other without thinking about what the thread was about.

I need to say here that I dont want to be a killjoy, but, I think this is the original point of this thread.....

I also want to reiterate that I don't think that "rules" are the answer, just regard and respect for each other...

I am sure that I will be flamed for being "dry", but I could pick loads of examples similar to the one above as support for my point.

Has any other "viewer" of this thread got an opinion?

Not feeling you got the answers you wanted by posting or the fact that the thread went off topic?

Another point is what i said earlier. this wouldnt bother me but you feel its off topic which is fine as your entitled to feel that way but where do you draw the line again since both of us have different views of off topic? Now as the OP maybe a pm saying you want that thread kept on topic might be better then some rule for it.

Gotta say I can't see it biglad. Yeah, there was a bit of OT banter with QPH and anon (after he had dealt with your issue) but if that was my thread I'd just be happy they were keeping it bumped. If anyone else had anything of interest to add I'm sure they would have.

I suppose that it is the fact that once it has gone off topic, the original thread is lost. I thought it was a reasonable question adn while I thought some of the answers were a bit glib, I didn't interfere, I just was waiting to see what other people thought. I appreciate qph's comments although I thought that a bit of discretion or a judgement call (other than the decision made) might have been good, but I didn't argue immediately. I think this is a classic example of killing debate by taking a thread off topic by being self indulgent.

Having said that, I am not trying to get at anon or qph in any way other than to suggest that posters like them (with huge experience) should allow a thead to take its natural course?
