Gambling is a very powerful addiction and as I think it was Kerrylad who said he's gambled on everything, i.e. Two flies up a wall. With gambling the first step to recovery is to admit that we are powerless over our gambling and that our lives had become unmanagable. There is a definite connection in that the whole E-I scenario is also a powerful addiction, the only way I could stop is to be permanently banned. Like gambling it could destroy a once good relationship, assuming you are a married person.
I actually started gambling again because I felt it was the only way I could raise the money to see an escort, 120's and 250's don't fall off of trees. I am in a relationship where money is no object, with the exception that my partner controls the purse strings and gives e an allowance to cover petrol ect., etc., I even try to drive slower to save petrol and keep the difference.
Through the family one can satisfy all the basic needs of a human being, to love and be loved, to cherish and be cherished, to provide and be provided for, to give and receive, to feel wanted and feel needed. All the basic needs of a human being can be realised through the interaction of a family who love one another. Unfortunately, this all goes the window, when an addiction takes over, you're on another planet to your partner. You don't see her, because you're so full of your own selfish agenda and she is like a flower that begins to wilt, the gambler won't even buy her a bunch of flowers, in fact he won't spend any of his winnings at all, he wants to keep it for further betting (the poor devil thinks he can multiply it).
But your partner may well give a gambler a second and third chance, but if she ever found out that he was with an escort, he surely get the boot, I have to say quite rightly so. That is a gamble that a married man is taking, it's a big gamble, probably the biggest on he's likely to take in his life.
So QueenBee, I feel the thrill of gambling is indeed very exciting with a massive adrenaline rush, where as the thrill I feel is different with escorting, if your a married man, you just want to get home safely and carry on with a conscience with your Jekyll and Hide lifestyle, being in bed with an exotic creature is of couse a thrill in itself. But alas I could have it all wrong.
