She was an awesome working girl i have to say. I read her first book, it was ok but she said one of her main influences was james ellroy so I think she has a long way to go yet.
Over Christmas I bumped into her and another woman she used to work with out of an appartment in Temple Bar. I said hello as I always do when I bump into a working girl but she blanked me, movin on from past I suppose and really you should respect that I suppose, but jaysus I visited her at least 30 times (hell she even rang ME a few times) and dammit we got on really well....
so thats that, anyway its time for me to stop living in the past too
I disagree that the drug and prostitution industries are polar opposites.
They are not the same, granted, otherwise I could just ring a girl instead
of having to ring a dealer also. I will outline the stark similarities below:
Escorts and dealers possess that which customers believe they 'need'.
(often after I have shagged an escort or scored a €100 of Cannabis I see the
value of the transaction in a less desperate fashion. Addiction/compulsion are
terms we can use here.
Escorts and drugs have an inflated cost. If this expense is not controlled-a user
will end up broke. (You want more than you can earn).
The legality issues surrounding each, make each industry more dangerous than it need be.
(brothel-2 girls, criminality of drugs lead to set-up deals-muggings instead of drugs/inferior batches etc.)
Both industries are only understood or valued by people who are in them, (Ruhama, misguided pricks
protesting outside headshops.)
If you wish to argue this, please do so a paragraph at a time. Do not abuse a language-save 'polar
opposites' for when it really is called for.

see you next tuesday
Got to disagree with that assessment of the former escort turned writer. When she was making a living from escorting, she had to act the part for her audience....the clients. When she moved into writing, her audience changed and once again, she had to give them what they wanted in order to make money. People don't buy rag mags or tabloids to read about people living ordinary hum-drum lives filled with marital bliss and fidelity......they want the shite on their neighbours, on celebrities, they want to read about the seedy underbelly of society.......why read boring shite when you want to escape from the boredom of your own existence? Having milked the clients as an escort, milking people's desire for the sensational or the salacious would have made perfect sense to her as a writer. It's similar to somebody having an affair with a rich/famous/powerful person for the obvious benefits and then doing a kiss-and-tell job for the obvious benefits. If anything, this lady was consistent.
