I mean, anyone remember what QPH was like when he joined? He was insufferable (seems to have improved now though) and yet he was made a mod??? Crazy.....

I don't agree with you there and a few months ago I never thought I would say that but, yes when QPH was made a mod I voiced my dis-aggreements, and yes he was heavy handed in the begining but a lot of that was in reaction to the amount of abuse he recieved above others!
Now that time has past I would say that QPH is a very good member of this community and a very good Mod, just look at all the work he is doing cleaning up the fake ad profiles.. Ok he can lean slightly in favour of the ladies in some of his logic but I really don't blame him for that, it is one of the reason I would imagine he became a mod so that he could improve these boards and other areas of this site for the ladies.

Questions about modding are worthy of discussion, but I'm not sure how much of a role that plays in how new or occcasional users see the site.

Eh yeah, fair enought. I kind of meant it as an example of how I became an "Occasional User"...
And how 25% of the site's posts coming from mods is bonkers...

I dunno Gordo. I don't post here as much as I used to (except for the odd spurt from time to time).
I used to love this place , it was everything that the "other place" wasn't. I think an awful lot of the magic went when the mods were brought in and threads started to get deleted all over the place and posting having their guts ripped out simply because a particular mod disagreed arbitrarily with it.

I'm a huge believer in internet freedom and while I'm not totally against mods they definitely should not be made up of board members. You should never EVER actually see them on
board...

thats what i felt too, that a moderator should be very much in the background having little input unless they had to intervene. i think that some of the best posters here who have been offered the position of moderator probably should have turned it down. also i have seen some strange decisions by some moderators in the past. take this thread

Punterminator, I'm aware of the fact that you may think in the past I have been harsh when debating or dealing with some posters on the forum. I'm sorry you feel that way but things are not always as black and white as they may seem on the open forum and I may at times do things in a particular was to draw out trolls and banned users...........

Well, I really haven't been around since the mods came in to argue with you coherently but I just felt that he was WAY too confrontational, opinionated & argumentative to be a mod.

Not to mention his inability to verbalise a though succinctly (kudos on the improvement there)..

Even reading this thread alone you can still see that he's, what I would consider, too argumentative and confrontational to be a mod...

luther, I wasn't getting @ you in particular at all, I never really took much notice of who was doing what. I just know it was being done...

I don't think I've ever had an issue with you anyway.. And all of this is just my opinion, neither right nor wrong, that board work and flow better when the mods are not part of the posting community...

Your lucky you have been out of it for a while, with the amount of shit thats thrown at the mods just to try get at the site owner of late is unreal, i'm not surprised they haven't developed some sort of virus that will blow up a users PC for some of the shit thats posted.

What I actually said was that you should not have been allowed become mods because you were already a part of the community.
