Tony Blair’s half-hearted attempt in 1997 to atone for the Irish famine probably did more harm than good.
Did Tony Blair really feel dreadful about the Irish potato famine when he apologised for that in 1997? Er, no. But it was more than helpful to the Irish peace process that he should make the gesture.
