As I say I could be wrong.
    That was Blair'
Tony Blair’s half-hearted attempt in 1997 to atone for the Irish famine probably did more harm than good.
Did Tony Blair really feel dreadful about the Irish potato famine when he apologised for that in 1997? Er, no. But it was more than helpful to the Irish peace process that he should make the gesture. And anyway, as with his apology to the Conlon and Maguire families over their wrongful imprisonments, the sin wasn't his fault. Still, it managed to make him look less stony faced and more like a regular, emoting human being and that had to be a good thing.

He is not the head of state, nor was it a state visit, it was a private visit. I want to hear it from the organ grinder and not the monkey before she sets an "official" foot on Irish sovereign soil.

If Blair could do it for UK's part in slavery to the new world then they should also do it as a formal gesture to draw a line in the sand and then I would have no problem with her madge visiting here.

Actually I was corrected on that by Anon.It was in fact Tony Blair who made that statement which was back in the 90s before the Good Friday agreement.Somehow I cant see her making any apology anytime soon.

I did not say he did or seen Anon's post when I posted that but if she makes no apology thats fine but then stay the hell away from here. I feel strongly about this, my forebares were put on the side of the road and their hovel of a home set fire to by crown forces on behalf of that bitches relations and done so in HER familys name so I want an apology for wrongs made to this land before she puts her size nines in MY country.

I'm sorry you feel that way QPH. I agree the United Kingdom and their monarchists have created havoc around the globe for centuries. I have read several books about the famine and other historical events that the Brits have been responsible for but we need to be more mature in our attitude and show that we, as a Nation, will always be better people than they will ever be.

Well fair enough if you feel that way about it.All this is speculation anyway as there is no indication that she actually will be invited to come here.
I personally would have no problem if she were to be invited.

So what was the conclusion of all this? Is E-I sending her an invitation, or no? I hear she is waiting anxiously.

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.
