I would agree with all of the actors mentioned by previous posters and would also add Jack Nicholson and Sean Connery.
The Truth is out there.
I think while Eastwood was a pretty good actor, his forté is definitely directing, the man knows what audiences want

nic cage would be my pick for this. Very believable imo.
I hate it when people come up with questions like this one, just makes me think too much until my head hurts (yes I know I’ve got too much time on my hands) but I love movies, been watching proper grown up movies since I was a child, my Dad got me into the old spaghetti westerns when I was young and everything went from there.
You of course have all of the obvious names like DeNiro, Pacino, Eastwood, Newman, McQueen, Freeman, Brando, Guinness, Poitier, Hoffman, Burton, Hackman, Quinn, Kingsley, Hurt, Spacey, Pleasance, its just an impossible question for me to answer.
But there’s one scene out of the thousands and thousands of films I’ve seen in my life that has two of those all time greats going head to head and no matter how many times I see it it still sends shivers down my spine, the scene in Heat where DeNiro and Pacino sit in the diner over a coffee and realize they’ve more in common than either of them would ever believe, its truly amazing and worth watching the whole movie for just to see that ten minute scene.

I just like to add Marlon Brando...maybe he is not the best ever actor but Godfather one of my favourite film....but i agree with otheres
